Farming Tractors Not To Miss -- Case, New Holland, And John Deere Transmissions by Christine O'Kelly
Just like construction and other heavy-duty industries, farmers need equipment that will stand up to a beating. All of the equipment needs to be easy to use and able to produce the power these jobs require. This includes Case, New Holland, and John Deere transmissions. This makes these some of the best in the world, whether they are originals or rebuilt John Deere transmissions, Case, or New Holland. These companies have specifically developed new and improved technology to get the job done as efficiently as possible.
John Deere Transmissions
The Infinitely Variable Transmission (IVT) is designed to be easy to use while still providing a constant level of power and efficiency. They designed the system so that farmers have the greatest amount of control in a simplified format. These John Deere transmissions select the right speed ratios and gearing to allow farmers to clear their fields as quickly and efficiently as possible.
The ability of the original and rebuilt John Deere transmissions to run at a lower engine speed increases the fuel efficiently, helping to ease the strain of higher fuel prices. What farmers like most about them is that they are easy to drive. There is no more guessing and grinding to get it into the right gear. It also has a selector knob that allows the driver to select the best settings in all situations. The traditional clutch system is gone and the brake now has an autoclutch for the most convenient shifting possible.
Case IH Magnum
This new tractor has brought those on the farm three different options when it comes to performance parts -- an 18F/4R standard, 19F/4R, and a 23F/6R. The second option has the extra road gear to make it extremely fuel-efficient on the road. This allows for a maximum of 25mph and gives an 11 percent fuel savings. According to Case, the tractor will save enough fuel in 300 hours of driving to pay for the added cost. The last version has shift-through creeper speeds. Regardless of which transmission is chosen, this tractor has standard autoshift and two modes with all three versions. The driver can set the gearing specifically for the field and the road.
New Holland T6000 Series
New Holland gives farmers four choices of transmissions with the newest in technology. The 16x16 autoshift has a programmable shift for both field and rode modes. The farmer simply selects the option that matches the situation and the equipment does the rest. The 16x16 electroshift gives four options in each of the four ranges. It has a clutchless range and is all controlled by a lever to make it as easy as possible for the operator.
The third option is a 24x24 dual command. The shifting is clutchless, which allows powershifting on the go in both directions and push-button operation. The power shuttle on the unit adds an underdrive gear for both directions. The last option is a 12x12 synchro command. This model has a mechanical shuttle instead of a power version, giving four gears in all three ranges.
The days of standing on the clutch and forcing it into gear are long gone. New technologies and ideas have made these systems far more efficient and easy to use than ever before. Whether they are originals or rebuilt, John Deere transmissions, Case, and New Holland are true leaders in the agricultural industry.
